How Accessible is +Que Tapas, Javea?

accessibility review for +que Tapas, Javea

Wheelchair Accessibility Review for +Que Tapas, Javea Costa Blanca

+Que Tapas is a fantastic little tapas restaurant, perfect for coffees, snacks, or enjoying their menu del día. A standout feature is the complimentary mini croissant served with your coffee—a thoughtful touch that.

High-Quality Food and Great Variety

The food at +Que Tapas is truly exceptional. The menu offers a wide variety of high-quality dishes, from classic Spanish tapas to more creative options that cater to different tastes. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick snack, a leisurely coffee, or the excellent menu del día, the flavours are consistently fresh and delicious. The diverse menu ensures something for everyone, making it a great spot for groups or families with different preferences.

Wheelchair Accessibility Highlights

The owners have made commendable efforts to improve accessibility:

  1. Entrance Ramp: A ramp has been installed at the entrance, ensuring easy access for wheelchair users.
  2. Accessible Restroom: The ladies’ restroom has been adapted into a larger, wheelchair-accessible facility. Adding a small disability sign to this toilet would be helpful for clarity, particularly for male wheelchair users like my husband, who sometimes gets odd looks from others when using it.
  3. Table Arrangements: The tables are well-spaced, and some styles are ideal for wheelchair users, allowing easy access and comfort.

Atmosphere

The welcoming atmosphere is one of +Que Tapas’ greatest strengths. The staff are warm and attentive, ensuring all guests feel at ease. Combined with the high-quality food and affordable prices, it’s a place you’ll want to return to again and again.

Where is +Que Tapas, Javea?

Accessibility Challenges

The primary issue lies with the location. While the bar itself is on flat ground, parking can be a challenge. If you’re fortunate enough to find a nearby parking spot, accessibility is excellent. However, parking in a neighbouring street means navigating a steep hill to reach the restaurant. This incline can be extremely challenging for wheelchair users without substantial assistance from companions.

Final Thoughts

+Que Tapas is a shining example of a restaurant striving to be inclusive and accessible, and I commend the owners for their efforts. The ramp, accessible restroom, and thoughtful table arrangements showcase their commitment to all customers.

In addition to its accessibility, the high-quality food, extensive menu, and inviting atmosphere make it a standout choice in Javea. If parking logistics could be improved or nearby accessible spaces promoted, it would be nearly perfect for wheelchair users.

Despite the parking challenge, I highly recommend +Que Tapas for its fantastic food, friendly atmosphere, and impressive accessibility features. It’s a gem worth visiting!

How Accessible is Barlovento Tapas Bar, Javea?

Barlovento Accessibility Review Javea

Wheelchair Accessibility Review for Barlovento Tapas Bar. in Javea, Costa Blanca.

Barlovento Tapas Bar is a gem in Javea’s port area, offering an authentic Spanish experience with delicious food, friendly service, and breathtaking views. While the atmosphere and terrace are exceptional, wheelchair accessibility is a mixed bag.

Terrace
The large, open terrace is the standout feature for wheelchair users. Its wide layout and moveable tables make it a welcoming space, allowing for easy manoeuvring and a comfortable dining experience. The open design also enhances the feeling of accessibility, making it ideal for most wheelchair users.

Entrance
The bar has made an effort to create level access with a wide open ramp, which is commendable. However, the tilt of the pavement creates a small, awkward lip at the entrance. This could pose a challenge for some wheelchair users, especially if unaided.

Interior
Inside, the fashionable furniture unfortunately falls short in wheelchair accessibility. The tables with large pedestals are not wheelchair-friendly, limiting the options for indoor seating.

Bathroom
The accessible bathroom is located in the ladies’ restroom, which, while functional, could be better marked to avoid confusion or awkwardness. Adding a wheelchair-accessible sign would make it more inclusive for all users, including men.

Access Routes
Situated on a high terrace, the bar can be reached either by climbing a long hill from the port or from the Fisherman’s Church. While picturesque, these routes may require additional effort for wheelchair users.

Where is Barlovento Tapas Bar, Javea?

Overall Experience
Despite some wheelchair accessibility challenges, the terrace, stunning views, and welcoming atmosphere make Barlovento a worthwhile visit. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the menu delivers an authentic Spanish experience at very reasonable prices. With some minor adjustments, such as improved signage and addressing the lip at the entrance, this could be an even more wheelchair-friendly destination.

A true treasure in a quiet corner of the port, Barlovento is a spot we’ve thoroughly enjoyed and would happily recommend.

Overview: Charlie’s Beach Club in Javea, Costa Blanca, offers a vibrant atmosphere, live music on weekends, and friendly service with great tapas options. Here’s a detailed review focusing on disability

 access at Charlie’s Bar.

Atmosphere and Service: Charlie’s Beach Club boasts a fantastic ambience with live music adding to the lively atmosphere. The staff are friendly and provide excellent service, making every visit enjoyable.

Food and Menu: While we’ve only tried the tapas, the main dishes also look promising, offering a variety of appetizing options for diners.

Disability Access: Disability access at Charlie’s Beach Club is mixed. Although the owner has a ramp that can be placed at the entrance, it requires assistance for wheelchair users due to the acute angle, posing a challenge for independent wheelchair users like my husband, Rob. Additionally, fixed seating arrangements restrict movement around the bar, making it cramped for wheelchair users.

Toilet Accessibility: The toilets at Charlie’s Beach Club is commendably accessible, featuring excellent facilities including a bar on the wall to assist wheelchair users. This thoughtful addition enhances the overall accessibility of the bar.

Parking: There is no disabled parking especially for wheelchair users as Charlie’s Beach Club is on the Beach promenade at the Arenal Beach in Javea. There are many disabled spaces in this area and accessible taxis are available behind the promenade.

Overall Impression: Despite some accessibility challenges, Charlie’s Beach Club offers a great experience with its lively atmosphere, live music, and friendly service. The accessible restroom is a notable feature, providing convenience for wheelchair users. Overall, it’s a great little bar well worth a visit.

How wheelchair accessible is Le Gourmet 10:39 Predreguer?

le gourmet 10:39 accessibility review

Wheelchair Accessible Review for Le Gourmet 10:39 Restaurant, Pedreguer.

Overview: Le Gourmet 10:39 Restaurant in Pedreguer, Costa Blanca, offers an exceptional dining experience with incredible food and meticulous attention to detail from the chef, making every meal special. This restaurant exudes a truly Spanish feel, adding to its charm and appeal. Here’s a detailed review focusing on the wheelchair accessibility of Le Gourmet.

Wheelchair Access: Le Gourmet 10:39 has made commendable efforts to ensure good accessibility within its premises. However, the entryway has one step, which can be navigated by wheelchair users with assistance, making it not fully accessible for all. Once inside, the interior is arranged to accommodate wheelchair users comfortably. The location of the restaurant also presents a significant challenge. Situated up a very steep hill, it is difficult for wheelchair users to reach the restaurant independently. Wheelchair users would need to be dropped off directly outside the restaurant, as navigating the steep hill and lack of nearby parking make it impractical to arrive by wheelchair alone.

Seating for Disabled Patrons: Once inside, the restaurant is well-equipped to serve wheelchair users. The tables are spaced out sufficiently, allowing for easy manoeuvrability. The thoughtful layout ensures that wheelchair users can find a comfortable spot to enjoy their meal without feeling cramped.

Accessible Toilets: The toilet at Le Gourmet 10:39 is accessible for wheelchair users. Although there are no grab bars, the restroom is spacious enough to accommodate even electric wheelchairs. This makes it easier for patrons with mobility impairments to use the facilities independently.

Menu and Dining Experience: Le Gourmet 10:39 offers a staggered price menu del día, depending on which main courses you choose, providing a range of delicious options to suit different tastes and budgets. The food is truly exceptional, earning a full 5 stars for its quality and taste, with the chef’s attention to detail making every dish a culinary delight. This focus on quality and presentation enhances the dining experience, making it a memorable outing for all guests.

Parking Challenges: Unfortunately, there is no parking available nearby, which is a significant drawback for those with mobility impairments. The restaurant owners have done everything within their control to make the venue itself accessible, but the external factors, such as the steep hill and lack of parking, remain unavoidable challenges.

Recommendations for Wheelchair Users: While Le Gourmet 10:39 has ensured good accessibility within the restaurant, the external challenges posed by its location and the step at the entrance need to be considered. It would be beneficial for wheelchair users to plan for a drop-off right outside the restaurant. Coordinating with friends, family, or a transportation service can help mitigate the difficulties posed by the steep hill and lack of parking.

Overall Accessibility:

  • Entrance: ★★☆☆☆
  • Interior: ★★★★☆
  • Restroom: ★★★★☆
  • External Access (Hill and Parking): ★★☆☆☆
  • Food Quality: ★★★★★

Despite the challenges posed by its steep location, lack of nearby parking, and the step at the entrance, Le Gourmet 10:39 Restaurant in Pedreguer, Costa Blanca, offers an accessible and exceptional dining experience within its premises. The incredible food, truly Spanish ambiance, and meticulous attention to detail from the chef make it worth the effort to visit. However, due to the external access issues and the step at the entrance, it is advisable for wheelchair users to arrange drop-off transportation directly outside the restaurant. This way, they can fully enjoy the special culinary experience that Le Gourmet 10:39 provides.

For those seeking a memorable dining experience in Costa Blanca, Le Gourmet 10:39 stands out, though improvements in accessibility logistics would further enhance its appeal to wheelchair users and patrons with mobility challenges.

How accessible is Mesa Restaurant in Moraira for a wheelchair user?

Accessible Wheelchair Review for Mesa Restaurant, Moraira

Overview: Mesa Restaurant in Moraira offers a delightful ambiance and excellent food, but it significantly lacks accessibility for patrons with mobility challenges. Here’s a detailed review focusing on the accessible features and shortcomings at Mesa.

Entrance: The restaurant’s main door lacks a ramp, posing a significant barrier for wheelchair users. While there is level access through the terrace, this route requires moving tables, which is inconvenient and unacceptable. This setup demonstrates a lack of consideration for patrons with disabilities and highlights the need for improved access solutions.

Seating: The terrace seating is another area where Mesa struggles with accessibility. The tables are set very close together, making it difficult for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre around. Additionally, the restaurant features banquet seating that is very high up, further restricting the available seating options for individuals with mobility impairments. These high seats are impractical for many patrons with disabilities, who require standard-height tables and chairs to dine comfortably.

Accessible Toilets: While the restroom is wide, it is not specifically adapted for wheelchairs, which limits its usability for those in larger electric wheelchairs. This lack of adaptation is a significant shortcoming, as it restricts the independence and comfort of patrons with physical impairments who need more space and appropriate facilities.

Owner’s Assistance: Although the owner is willing to help anyone in a wheelchair, relying on assistance shouldn’t be necessary. Patrons with disabilities have the right to visit any restaurant and be as independent as able-bodied individuals. True accessibility means ensuring that everyone can access and enjoy the facilities without needing special assistance.

The better door is blocked by tables!

Recommendations: Mesa Restaurant needs to seriously reconsider its approach to accessibility. Implementing a ramp at the main entrance would be a significant improvement, providing direct access for wheelchair users. Additionally, rearranging the terrace seating to allow more space between tables would enhance mobility for all patrons, especially those with mobility challenges. Lowering the banquet seating or providing more accessible seating options would also be beneficial. Lastly, adapting the restroom to be fully wheelchair accessible would greatly improve the overall experience for patrons with disabilities.

Overall Accessibility:

  • Entrance: ★☆☆☆☆
  • Seating: ★☆☆☆☆
  • Restroom: ★★☆☆☆

Despite the excellent food and very good ambiance, Mesa Restaurant in Moraira has significant shortcomings in terms of accessibility for patrons with mobility challenges. The lack of a ramp at the main entrance, closely spaced terrace tables, high banquet seating, and inadequately adapted restroom facilities make it challenging for wheelchair users and those with physical disabilities to enjoy their dining experience. As it stands presently, I would not visit here with my husband Rob. Addressing these issues would not only enhance the dining experience for patrons with mobility impairments but also demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.

For a restaurant aiming to cater to all guests, it is crucial to prioritise accessible features to ensure everyone, regardless of physical ability, can enjoy their dining experience independently.

Wheelchair Accessibility Review for Munay Tapas Bar, Javea, Costa Blanca

Overview: Munay Restaurant in Javea, Costa Blanca, offers an exceptional dining experience with superb ambience, delightful food and drinks, and outstanding staff service. As a spouse of a wheelchair user, here’s my detailed accessibility review of the restaurant.

Entrance: The entrance is designed with disability access in mind, featuring a ramp that makes it easily accessible for wheelchair users. The ramp is well-constructed and provides a smooth transition from the street level into the restaurant, ensuring that disabled patrons can enter without any issues.

accessible Ramp Munay Javea
Accessible Ramp Munay Tapas Bar Javea

Seating: Inside, Munay Restaurant offers a variety of tables that accommodate wheelchairs comfortably. The tables are spaced out sufficiently, allowing easy manoeuvrability both on the main terrace and inside the bar. Whether you are seated indoors or outdoors, you’ll find it easy to position your wheelchair under the table and enjoy your meal without any hassle. This thoughtful layout is particularly beneficial for those with disabilities, ensuring a seamless dining experience.

Toilets: The disabled toilet is located in the ladies’ restroom. While this may be slightly inconvenient for male wheelchair users, the bathroom itself is well laid out and spacious. It can accommodate even electric wheelchairs, ensuring that users have ample room to move around and use the facilities comfortably. The design caters specifically to the needs of disabled individuals, providing a high level of accessibility.

Parking: One of the minor drawbacks is the lack of specific disabled parking spaces on the street near the restaurant. However, you can park at the nearby Arenal Beach and make your way to the restaurant. The distance is manageable, especially if you have assistance or use a manual wheelchair, as the route is relatively flat and pushable. For those visiting Javea, Costa Blanca, this is an important consideration, but not a deterrent.

Overall Accessibility:

  • Entrance: ★★★★☆

Despite the parking challenge, Munay Restaurant in Javea, Costa Blanca, is a highly accessible and enjoyable place for wheelchair users. The thoughtful design of the entrance, seating, and restroom facilities ensures a pleasant and comfortable dining experience. Casa Song Restaurant, Javea for the wheelchair user. How Accessible is it?

wheelchair access casa song javea

How accessible is Casa Song Restaurant Javea for a wheelchair user?  How accessible is the restaurant?

Casa Song is a family-owned restaurant in Javea Costa Blanca. It is a real main-stay of Javea and although it is off the main drag, it is well worth a visit.

They have all of the favourites for a Chinese restaurant and a lot to choose from.  You can eat in or takeaway.  Their food is delicious and the service is excellent. But how accessible is this restaurant for wheelchair users?

Disabled parking for Casa Song Restaurant, Javea

Parking for Casa Song Restaurant for wheelchair users is the main concern for this restaurant.  There is road parking outside but there is no disabled space and we all know, it can be difficult to park next to a kerb for wheelchair users.  There is a variety of parking options in Javea for wheelchair users but this area is lacking in that department. Please do not be put off by the lack of parking for disabled users, however.

The suggested space for this restaurant is a short walk away, across the main road outside the Sabadell Bank.

The layout and tables of the Restaurant are excellent for Wheelchair Users

The access for wheelchair users at Casa Song Restaurant Javea is good.  The Restaurant has a terrace to the front and a Large restaurant inside.  The terrace is not very spacious but my husband Rob is a full-time wheelchair user and he can access both the terrace and inside the restaurant easily. I believe that the larger wheelchairs may struggle on the terrace but will find ample space inside in the main restaurant.

Don´t get too excited about the terrace as the main road is noisy and it is not the prettiest of restaurants.

In the main restaurant, the tables are well spaced and Rob can easily get under the square tables making eating a pleasure.

Although we love going to this restaurant it does lack atmosphere. This restaurant is all about good food at a good price.  Sometimes during busy times, wheelchair users can find restaurants very busy and it can be frustrating. If you want a break from all that and want a quiet evening where space is plentiful then come to Casa Song, Javea or even come and get a takeaway.

Access to Casa Song Restaurant Javea and Disabled Toilet

Access to Casa Song, Javea for wheelchair users is excellent. They have a wide ramped entrance and spacious walkways within the restaurant allowing for easy movement for all sizes of wheelchairs.

The toilet at Casa Song is fully accessible for wheelchair users and always spotlessly clean.

Casa Song Restaurant Javea for all Travellers

Casa Song, Javea is one of those restaurants where the food is delicious, good value and popular but the venue is simple and relaxed.  I imagine a time on a holiday when people want to stay at home and have a takeaway or do not want the noise and boisterousness of the main tourist areas.

Casa song is perfect for wheelchair users and all travellers who want a simple, yet delicious Chinese/Thai meal with no thrills.

Personal notes for Casa Song Restaurant, Javea

Casa Song Restaurant Javea for the wheelchair user is second to none. The family are friendly and efficient. The food is good and access for wheelchair users is easy.

It is not a pretty restaurant but a well-known mainstay for locals. I personally feel that some of the dishes, especially the curries are more Thai than Chinese and their green Thai curry is delicious!

I would not go to Casa Song for a special event but you cannot beat the quality of the food and service and the accessibility for wheelchair users.

So is casa Song Restaurant Javea accessible for wheelchair users?  The answer is yes, yes, yes!

How Wheelchair Accessible is Safranera Cafeteria Javea?

Safranera Cafeteria Javea disabled access

How accessible is Safranera cafeteria Javea?

Safranera Cafetiera Javea is very accessible with no steps and a flat level throughout. However, wheelchair access could be restricted during busy times as the cafeteria is a very small establishment. There are a small number of tables inside the restaurant and some outside on the pavement. This can be overlooked however as this cafeteria is all about the Venezualan food, which is incredible.

Wheelchair accessible parking near Safranera Cafeteria Javea.

It is not too difficult to find a designated disabled space not far from Safranera Cafeteria Javea, however, it is located on a very busy road in Javea and therefore in peak season there you may struggle. Most locals do not park in the designated blue bays and for a short flat walk, I am sure that you will find one in the local streets.

Wheelchair accessible toilet in Safranera Cafeteria.

The disabled toilet in Safranera Cafeteria is small. It is a little more spacious than usual and they have a bar support for those that need it. However, due to the sheer size of this tiny restaurant, the toilet also reflects this lack of space.

Why you should come to visit Safranera Cafeteria?

Food, Food, Food. We can forgive the size of this restaurant because of the Venezuelan food. It is a must to try and as first-timers, the chef was very happy to give us a tapas-style meal so that we could try numerous dishes. The passion and love put into this food are apparent. Wonderful!

In conclusion, can I recommend Safranera Cafeteria with wheelchair accessibility in mind?

This small family-run restaurant is a must-visit for anyone wanting something a little different in Javea. It has all of the elements of wheelchair access however it is a small restaurant so movement is always going to be limited for wheelchair users. Please visit though. A special family who serve food with love.

How Accessible is Restaurante Portitxol, Javea for Wheelchair Users?

How Accessible is Restaurante Portitxol, Javea for wheelchair users?

Restaurante Portitxol Javea for the wheelchair user. On first seeing the outside of Restaurante Portitxol, disabled access doesn’t spring to mind. At first glance, you could rule out this restaurant and that would be a mistake. The 6 steps at the entrance of the restaurant are not disabled-friendly but a small glance up the side street will afford you the secret entrance to this restaurant. Santa Coqueta Taverna is attached to the Restaurante Portitxol and allows very good disabled access for wheelchair users.

Level Access to Restaurante Portitxol, Javea

Once into the restaurant through the level entrance of the Santa Coqueta Taverna, good wheelchair access continues through this hidden restaurant. There are a variety of seating areas with some fixed seating and other free chairs. For a wheelchair user, the tables are not the best as the pedestals can stop some wheelchair users from getting close enough to the table but my husband managed. The tables are spread out and there is space to move around easily for wheelchair users. Some of the larger wheelchairs may find it a squeeze at busy times.

Parking for Restaurante Portitxol, Javea

Disabled parking near Restaurante Portitxol for wheelchair users is poor. Being located in the old town, there are challenges for wheelchair users but depending upon how adventurous you are, it is possible to get to. My husband is an independent wheelchair user and he managed. But I cannot comment on access for all disabilities and the distance to a parking space is dependent on when you visit and how busy the town is generally. Most locals do not park in disabled access parking bays but there are fewer in the town of Javea.

The nearest disabled parking space is in Avinguda D’Alacant. However, the climb from this space is very steep so if this climb is too great for you then you can park in other bays further away but with less of a climb.

Disabled toilets at Restaurante Portitxol, Javea

For wheelchair users visiting Restaurante Portitxol, the disabled toilets are very good. As per many restaurants in Javea unfortunately the disabled toilet is in the ladies but as there is only one of each, it isn’t a problem. As with every aspect of Restaurante Portitxol, it is spotlessly clean.

Why would you visit Restaurante Portitxol, Javea as a wheelchair user?

Why may you want to visit Restaurante Portitxol?  The short answer is, it’s so worth it! This is a hidden gem in a challenging location for wheelchair users but it is a must if you are visiting Javea. It is a truly special space, and the current owners have created this truly magical space in the centre of the town.  The food is traditionally Spanish. The day that we visited, they had a menu del dia (3/5 courses) for €14.50. This included two tapas starters before we even ordered our food! They also have an A la Carte menu.

The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and has some quirky features such as a door of doors. It is such a shame that access to the roof terrace is not possible for wheelchair users as I am told that it is beautiful.

In conclusion, visiting Restaurante Portitxol, Javea for the wheelchair user.

I can highly recommend Restaurante Portitxol for those wheelchair users who want a real taste of Spain in a stylish, relaxed restaurant. If you’re adventurous and enjoy going to special, not run of the mill places, then Restaurante Portitxol is definitely for you. It is certainly worth the hill that you need to go up to get there. We will undoubtedly be returning and it may become our new place to go. The pricing is also so competitive s0 please check it out if you visit Javea.

Restaurante Portitxol is located on the corner of Avinguda D’Alacant and Calle Rda. Norte.
