Geographic Restaurant and Bar, Javea. How wheelchair accessible is it?

Geographic front accessible javea

Wheelchair access at Geographic Restaurant and Bar, El Arenal, Javea.

When asking how wheelchair accessible is Geographic Bar and Restaurant Javea, the answer would be positive but mixed. There are several areas of seating areas at Geographic Bar and Restaurant.

Wheelchair Access inside the Geographic Restaurant and Bar

Inside the restaurant itself, it is wheelchair accessible but the tables at the front where the lovely view of the sea is, are packed into this area so you may get a feeling of being penned in. In the current climate of Covid, there is plenty of space between tables.

There is more spacious seating at the rear of the restaurant where the small cafe counter is, selling cakes and other treats. This area also has an open fire in the winter months. A real treat at Christmas time.

Accessible Terrace outside

The terrace outside is between Geographic and the bar next door. This terrace stretches around the back of Geographic as well and is level all the way around.

Disabled parking for Geographic Restaurant, Javea

There are a variety of disabled parking spaces behind the El Arenal Beach area and you will usually find one which is free.

So what has Geographic got to offer the  disabled traveller?

Being mainly wheelchair accessible and so close to the lovely beach at El Arenal, then it has a lot to offer. We usually sit inside and have a breakfast or dinner.

TV screens show sport

There are MANY television screens at Geographic showing sport, including premiership and international football. It doesn’t have the feel of a sports bar and you can enjoy a meal or drink in peace. However, popular games may attract larger crowds and make it more difficult to move around the bar.

Is Geographic Restaurant  Accessible for wheelchair users?

Geographic is all on one level. The disabled access entrance is at the side of the restaurant. There is an approximately a one inch lip at this entrance which could be challenging for some. A large electric wheelchair, could get around but you may have to ask others to move for you. We tend to towards the rear where it is a little more spacious.

Is there a disabled toilet at Geographic Bar and Restaurant, Javea?

The disabled toilet at Geographic is located at the rear of the restaurant, through the left of the two doors and labelled ladies I’m afraid. It is spacious, however.

Would I recommend Geographic to the disabled traveller?

We enjoy going to Geographic. The food and staff are very good and we like the pub feel that geographic has. We highly recommend the English breakfast. It is particularly nice in the cooler months with the open fire and cosy feel.

La Fontana Restaurant and Bar Javea. How wheelchair accessible is it?

doors closed la fontana javea disabled access

When asking how wheelchair accessible La Fontana bar and Restaurant is, the answer has to be yes absolutely.  And to add to this excellent accessibility, the staff are friendly and work hard to create an atmosphere that is always buzzy and fun.

Wheelchair access at La Fontana Restaurant, El Arenal, Javea.

There are several areas of seating at La Fontana. All areas are wheelchair accessible.  The first being the terrace outside which has a mixture of seating tables and barstools around barrels.

The second is inside the restaurant itself. It is wheelchair accessible but the tables are packed into this area so you may get a feeling of being penned in. Sometimes the width for a wheelchair to get through isn’t there and you end up having to ask people to move if you need to toilet or to leave. Personally, Rob would rather not sit where this is the case. In the current climate of Covid, there is plenty of space between tables.

Disabled parking for La Fontana Restaurant, Javea

There is a disabled parking space right outside the restaurant by the side terrace. It seems to be a popular parling space as it leads onto the promenade at El Arenal Beach so we have not always been successful in attaining this space. There are a variety of disabled parking spaces behind the El Arenal Beach area and you will usually find one which is free.

So what has La Fontana got to Offer?

Being fully wheelchair accessible and so close to the lovely beach at El Arenal, then it has a lot to offer. We usually sit on the side terrace which provides easy access to the disabled toilet.

Unusual drinks at La Fontana Restaurant and Bar.

If you are a spirit drinker then La Fontana is for you. They have many unusual spirits and also sell them in their on-site shop. They also sell lovely condiments and other specialist food items. Great for an unusual holiday gift!

So how wheelchair accessible is La Fontana Bar and Restaurant, Javea?

La Fontana is fully accessible for wheelchairs throughout. It is all on one level and entrances are flat. There would be space for an electric wheelchair.

Is there a disabled access toilet at La Fontana?

The disabled toilet at La Fontana Restaurant Javea is unique in that you will find it in the Gents toilet area. No, you don’t have to wheel passed men at urinals but the doorway is next to the gents’ toilet.  The doorway to the disabled toilet is not huge but Rob fitted through easily in his manual wheelchair.

Would I recommend La Fontana to the disabled traveller?

In Conclusion, we love going to La Fontana Restaurant Javea.  The staff and great, the drinks are flowing and food is excellent. The thin crispy pizzas are a must or any of the tapas as well. Go around the side terrace, you will see the bar there and be able to see the variety of spirits on offer. I believe that the bar manager would accommodate any drink request. A real favourite of ours and the locals alike.

Premium Plus Steakhouse and Cocktail bar, Moraira. How accessible it it?

When asking how wheelchair accessible Premium Plus Steakhouse Restaurant and cocktail bar is, the review is mixed. It is a specialist steakhouse and whilst the food was of a high quality the accessibility was not.

Wheelchair access at Premium Plus Steakhouse Restaurant and cocktail bar

There are two areas of seating at Premium Plus. The first being the terrace outside on ground level which is wheelchair accessible once you have crossed over a small lip.

The second is inside the  air-conditioned restaurant itself. The question as to whether this is wheelchair accessible is dependent on your needs. There is a steep 8 steps to get up to get into the indoor seating which in no way can be described as accessible for wheelchair users.

Disabled parking for Premium Plus Steakhouse Restaurant and cocktail Bar , Moraira

The nearest parking to Premium Plus steakhouse restaurant ad Cocktail Bar is in the main carpark behind the row of restaurants and accessible via Ave. Madrid. It is a huge car park and some of it is taken by a fairground during high season.

However, there are no allocated disabled parking spaces here. The short promenade of restaurant where Premium Plus is located is accessible from the beach car park opposite after a short walk/wheel. We chose to park in the large main car park on the end of a row of non-disabled friendly spaces as it was closer.

What has Premium Plus steakhouse and Cocktail Bar, Moraira got to offer the disabled traveller?

I’m afraid the answer to this question is not a lot. In fact, we won’t be returning. We sat on the terrace on a very hot afternoon and there was no attempt to even offer fans to cool us down.  Other diners had the choice of going up the steps into the air-conditioned restaurant. An option which a disabled traveller did not have. There was no access to the toilet as it was in the main restaurant upstairs and although it was larger than normal, that didn’t matter because you wouldn’t be able to get to it.

Is Premium Plus Steakhouse and cocktail bar  Accessible for wheelchair users?

You can have access to the terrace at the front but as a disabled traveller, there your access ends. No access to a toilet or to the bar area.

There is no accessible toilet.

In conclusion, we will not be returning.  The food, staff or ambience was not special enough to tempt us back. There are so many more restaurant in Moraira which have attempted accessibility in some way and we will be going to those in the future.

La Bambula, Javea – How Wheelchair Accessible is it?

la bambula javea wheelchair friendly

La Bambula restaurant and bar is a real favourite of ours. We have visited La Bambula many times because it is fantastically wheelchair accessible. The view of the beach and the Montgo Mountain in the distance would be a highlight of any holiday. It has such a great vibe about it and everyone working and drinking there, who want a chilled, relaxing time. Nothing is a rush and it just all works like clockwork.  There is a wide variety of food and drinks. The food is good but if you just want a drink, then it is a great place to sit and watch the world go by or listen to live music on some afternoons.

Wheelchair access tables

La Bambula is more than just wheelchair accessible. It is tastefully decorated and quite chic in design. The feeling of understated elegance.  you really feel that you are visiting somewhere special and that they have thought about the disabled traveller.  There are a wide variety of wheelchair accessible table types both in inside and out on the large terrace overlooking the beach. They even have a shop, Boho Boutique-  really tasteful items for a great holiday purchase. Ur most recent visit was in June 2020 and there was a wide variety of different tables and seating available. During busy times in high season, that may not be the case.

Wheelchair accessible Parking

The nearest disabled parking space is in Calle Pireo however, the whole of the promenade is step-free and a great flat rolling surface so you can park in any disabled spaces behind the Arenal Beach area and then wheel to Bambula. If distance walking/rolling is an issue then the disabled space in Calle Pireo is the nearest.

Once you park there, you roll towards the sea and then turn right when you reach the promenade. La Bambula is the last restaurant that you come to.

Easy Access

Access to the bar/restaurant is completely flat with a combination of wooden and tiled flooring. Inside is huge and the tables are arranged well so that access around them is very good. On the terrace outside, it could be a little difficult in the height of the busy season.

Disabled access Toilet

This restaurant has a designated disabled access toilet. It is where the normal toilets are at the far rear of the restaurant through the swing doors.

How Accesssible is La Bambula?

La Bambula has excellent accessibility for wheelchair users. Larger electric wheelchairs would also easily get around La Bambula. We cannot recommend this bar and restaurant enough. It feels as if wheelchairs have really been considered it’s layout.

BREAKING NEWS

La Bambula has taken out the additional disabled toilet and fitted an accessible lift for wheelchairs and those with reduced mobility. It now opens up the large upstairs terrace for all. A great addition to an already fantastically accessible bar and restaurant in Javea. I just want to say well done!

This restaurant/bar is a must-visit for anyone visiting Javea. The food is high quality but it is not the star of the show. The view from the terrace and the general ambience is fantastic. A real fun place to hang out.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. You are guaranteed to see us down there, usually at 7pm on a Wednesday when the swing band plays.

Cala Blanca Beach – Wheelchair Accessible Route

Javea cala blanca accessible

Accessible Pathway for a Wheelchair User to Cala Blanca Beach

Are you looking for a wheelchair accessible route to Cala Blanca?  It is a pathway which is easily accessible and has a short flat accessible promenade once you get there. It is nice on holiday to explore these places and sometimes finding a route which is accessible can be a challenge.  The wheelchair accessible route from El Arenal and Cala Blanca beach is relatively flat and has been recently paved so I’m told that its a smooth ride. There is no cycle track here but the road and pavements are generally quiet and an enjoyable ride. It is an accessible path for electric wheelchairs and independent wheelchair users with a trike/cycle attachment.  If you are pushing a wheelchair or pushing yourself along this route then it is also possible but I would not recommend it in the height of summer in Javea.

An Accessible Route in Javea

The first part of the Wheelchair accessible route to Cala Blanca Beach begins at the end of Arenal Beach.  You need to leave the promenade at the end near to the currently closed MasyMas supermarket.   Secondly, go through the carpark and make your way to Avenida De La Libertat.  As you reach the main road, cross over and turn left. In this part of the  there is a small steep hill and this is the most challenging part for an independent wheelchair user.  Once you have reached the top of this hill, the rest of the  accessible route is flat.

The Pathway to Cala Blanca is Wheelchair accessible although not as pretty as the route to the port but the views at Cala Blanca are well worth it.  You ride behind the the properties that are first inline to the rustic beaches. But occasionally there are gaps between the properties and short roads leading down to the sea. These roads could be steep for some wheelchair users but worth a little look.

Feeling Adventurous in your Wheelchair?

For for those able bodied, non-wheelchair users, it is possible to walk across the rocky beach but not possible for wheelchair users. If you are feeling adventurous, the third road to the left leads to a makeshift semi-accessible  pathway.  Someone has tarmacked a narrow path that leads to the sea which are not ideal for a wheelchair but a great secret. If you want to get really close to the sea then go for it!.

Once you have reached the end of the accessible course, you will arrive at Cala Blanca. Should the route be too challenging for some then there is a disabled parking space should you need it.

Cala Blanca, Javea is a must see. A beautiful little cove with boats bobbing in the sea and people swimming and snorkelling or clambering over the rocks to the caves beyond. In reaching the end of the short promenade, the paths ends and as does the accessibility, I’m afraid. Finally, there is no disabled toilet at Cala Blanca. It doesn’t stop us visiting though and we often cycle/trike down there and spend some time watching the boats and taking it in.  The ride is approximately 2.2km.
