How accessible is Mesa Restaurant in Moraira for a wheelchair user?

Accessible Wheelchair Review for Mesa Restaurant, Moraira

Overview: Mesa Restaurant in Moraira offers a delightful ambiance and excellent food, but it significantly lacks accessibility for patrons with mobility challenges. Here’s a detailed review focusing on the accessible features and shortcomings at Mesa.

Entrance: The restaurant’s main door lacks a ramp, posing a significant barrier for wheelchair users. While there is level access through the terrace, this route requires moving tables, which is inconvenient and unacceptable. This setup demonstrates a lack of consideration for patrons with disabilities and highlights the need for improved access solutions.

Seating: The terrace seating is another area where Mesa struggles with accessibility. The tables are set very close together, making it difficult for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre around. Additionally, the restaurant features banquet seating that is very high up, further restricting the available seating options for individuals with mobility impairments. These high seats are impractical for many patrons with disabilities, who require standard-height tables and chairs to dine comfortably.

Accessible Toilets: While the restroom is wide, it is not specifically adapted for wheelchairs, which limits its usability for those in larger electric wheelchairs. This lack of adaptation is a significant shortcoming, as it restricts the independence and comfort of patrons with physical impairments who need more space and appropriate facilities.

Owner’s Assistance: Although the owner is willing to help anyone in a wheelchair, relying on assistance shouldn’t be necessary. Patrons with disabilities have the right to visit any restaurant and be as independent as able-bodied individuals. True accessibility means ensuring that everyone can access and enjoy the facilities without needing special assistance.

The better door is blocked by tables!

Recommendations: Mesa Restaurant needs to seriously reconsider its approach to accessibility. Implementing a ramp at the main entrance would be a significant improvement, providing direct access for wheelchair users. Additionally, rearranging the terrace seating to allow more space between tables would enhance mobility for all patrons, especially those with mobility challenges. Lowering the banquet seating or providing more accessible seating options would also be beneficial. Lastly, adapting the restroom to be fully wheelchair accessible would greatly improve the overall experience for patrons with disabilities.

Overall Accessibility:

  • Entrance: ★☆☆☆☆
  • Seating: ★☆☆☆☆
  • Restroom: ★★☆☆☆

Despite the excellent food and very good ambiance, Mesa Restaurant in Moraira has significant shortcomings in terms of accessibility for patrons with mobility challenges. The lack of a ramp at the main entrance, closely spaced terrace tables, high banquet seating, and inadequately adapted restroom facilities make it challenging for wheelchair users and those with physical disabilities to enjoy their dining experience. As it stands presently, I would not visit here with my husband Rob. Addressing these issues would not only enhance the dining experience for patrons with mobility impairments but also demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.

For a restaurant aiming to cater to all guests, it is crucial to prioritise accessible features to ensure everyone, regardless of physical ability, can enjoy their dining experience independently.

Premium Plus Steakhouse and Cocktail bar, Moraira. How accessible it it?

When asking how wheelchair accessible Premium Plus Steakhouse Restaurant and cocktail bar is, the review is mixed. It is a specialist steakhouse and whilst the food was of a high quality the accessibility was not.

Wheelchair access at Premium Plus Steakhouse Restaurant and cocktail bar

There are two areas of seating at Premium Plus. The first being the terrace outside on ground level which is wheelchair accessible once you have crossed over a small lip.

The second is inside the  air-conditioned restaurant itself. The question as to whether this is wheelchair accessible is dependent on your needs. There is a steep 8 steps to get up to get into the indoor seating which in no way can be described as accessible for wheelchair users.

Disabled parking for Premium Plus Steakhouse Restaurant and cocktail Bar , Moraira

The nearest parking to Premium Plus steakhouse restaurant ad Cocktail Bar is in the main carpark behind the row of restaurants and accessible via Ave. Madrid. It is a huge car park and some of it is taken by a fairground during high season.

However, there are no allocated disabled parking spaces here. The short promenade of restaurant where Premium Plus is located is accessible from the beach car park opposite after a short walk/wheel. We chose to park in the large main car park on the end of a row of non-disabled friendly spaces as it was closer.

What has Premium Plus steakhouse and Cocktail Bar, Moraira got to offer the disabled traveller?

I’m afraid the answer to this question is not a lot. In fact, we won’t be returning. We sat on the terrace on a very hot afternoon and there was no attempt to even offer fans to cool us down.  Other diners had the choice of going up the steps into the air-conditioned restaurant. An option which a disabled traveller did not have. There was no access to the toilet as it was in the main restaurant upstairs and although it was larger than normal, that didn’t matter because you wouldn’t be able to get to it.

Is Premium Plus Steakhouse and cocktail bar  Accessible for wheelchair users?

You can have access to the terrace at the front but as a disabled traveller, there your access ends. No access to a toilet or to the bar area.

There is no accessible toilet.

In conclusion, we will not be returning.  The food, staff or ambience was not special enough to tempt us back. There are so many more restaurant in Moraira which have attempted accessibility in some way and we will be going to those in the future.

Casa Toni’s Restaurant, Moraira – How Accessible is it?

Myself and my Husband Rob, love dining out but a disabled accessible restaurant is must. So that we can have a relaxing, enjoyable time.  But how disabled accessible is Casa Toni’s Restaurant in Moraira?  We visited Casa Toni’s Moraira for a friend’s birthday lunch and it didn’t disappoint. Many of the restaurants in the Costa Blanca offer high-quality produce but Casa Toni’s feels just a little nicer than the norm. Because of this, it is a great restaurant for a special occasion or even just a lovely lunch or dinner. The serving staff could not do enough for us and it was a fine, relaxing lunch with great service.
€€ – They offer a set daily menu and an a-la-carte alternative.

Dining inside and outside at Restaurant Casa Toni – With the disabled traveller in mind

How accessible are the tables and chairs at Casa Toni’s restaurant? There is a large terrace  at Casa Toni’s with shaded areas, which is good for disabled access for patrons. There was a choice of differently shaped tables and chairs on the spacious terrace. For accessibility, the variety of placements of table legs offered at Casa Toni’s provides a good choice of alternatives for wheelchair users.  It was April so not full but there was space between tables which enabled easy movement. I believe that in the summer months the terrace will be less spacious as more tables are added.  The interior of the restaurant was not so expansive. However, there were double doors leading inside and a clear open route to the bar and bathroom.

No Disabled Parking at Casa Toni, Moraira UPDATE

There has been a parking update for Casa Toni’s restaurant in Moraia. Their car park is tarmacked and clean now.   I did not see an allocated disabled parking space, so parking in the high season may prove problematic.    The access from the car park involves crossing the car park, crossing a small road and then accessing a pavement via a drop-kerb. This access to Casa Toni’s restaurant could prove difficult (not impossible) for independent wheelchair users.

Disabled Ramp Access to Casa Toni, Moraira

After crossing the road, there is a short challenging climb (gradient of approximately 1:15) up the hill towards the entrance to the restaurant. Here, there is access via steps for non-wheelchair users. Moreover, up the hill is the purpose-made ramp for non-step access. The ramp is approximately 5 metres long, with a gradient of approximately 1:8.

Disabled Access Toilet Facilities at Casa Toni’s, Moraira

Firstly, there is a toilet at Casa Toni’s which is large enough to be accessible at the rear of the restaurant. However, disabled access to the toilet in the restaurant, could be challenging for an independent wheelchair user. For instant, the gradient of the ramp-up to the disabled toilet could cause necessary problems. For an independent wheelchair user,  it will be a struggle to stop on the ramp and then open the door. Therefore, some wheelchair users may require assistance getting into the toilet which is a shame as the accessible toilet is well proportioned and immaculately clean.

Is Casa Toni’s Restaurant Accessible for the independent Disabled Traveller?

In conclusion, how accessible in Toni’s restaurant? The absence of allocated parking is a shame.  The road leading up the restaurant and the ramp-up to the  toilet could prove a  challenging gradient for some. There is not a  spectacular view from the terrace  and it is close to the road.  The road is screened well by the placement of plants and a water feature. Finally,  disabled ramp at the entrance and the clean large accessible toilet shows a desire to provide access for all. With this added to the fantastic service, the high quality of the food and the general ambiance, it would be a venue that we would return to.
